JW week 7
November 28, 2007I just finished my weekly study with the Jehovah Witness girls. I’m starting to really like them personally. They have great sense of humor and I can see how people come to turn to Jehovah Witness. Not necessarily because I believe what they teach, but if I didn’t truthfully study what they were sitting in front of me and question some of it I think it would be a very welcoming community. They seem very knowledgeable and authoritative. And they are very tight nit community so they always have support. They study a ton and they know their stuff well. Each week when I bring them questions (the are big on me asking questions) they have answers. Although the answers don’t always seem to line up in my eyes, they do a pretty good job of defending their faith and keeping me on my toes.
It really got me to thinking how ill-equipped I am as a Christian to defending my faith. Sometime I find myself fumbling through my Bible to find versus they know by heart. Of course most of it is because I think they have been trained well how to refute a major of my questions. They do know the bible pretty well though. I ran across an article this week about a survey Christianity Today just ran. It talks about 5 types of Christians. Some of the statistics amazed me. It says 70-80% of Americans would define themselves as Christian, however there is a vast difference among this group. They identified 5 general types of Christians. Check it out.

Luke 9:23…
October 27, 2007Over the past 3 weeks I’ve been studying Jehovah’s Witness Watchtower literature with two JW women who visited my house. It is a mom and her daughters. The first day they came I was on vacation and my my parents were in town. I had just put Jordan and Tommy down for a nap and I really needed some down time. We had been running all morning. But I felt God tugging on me to open the door and speak to them so I went out on the porch and we spent time getting to know each other. I have to be honest.
